Misson is a small North Nottinghamshire village with a population of about 745. The Parish includes Misson Springs and the hamlet of Newington. The Council is also responsible for the management of the parish council cemetery and maintenance of the churchyard, and is corporate trustee to the Town Estate Charity.

The role of the Clerk and responsible Financial Officer is to provide administrative, financial support and guidance to the work of the Council. It is a part-time post, with average working hours of 10 hours per week (8 for the Council and 2 for the Charity) as preferred by the postholder.

The salary is related to a local government agreement and will be between SCP21 to 26 £16.65 to £18.72 per hour dependant on the experience and qualifications of the post holder. There will be an annual salary review at which progression up the scale towards the maximum will be considered. There is normally an automatic cost of living increase notified from the National Association of Local Councils.

The job involves working from home without detailed supervision. The post holder will require some space to accommodate paper files and records. A laptop computer running Windows and MS Office software will be provided.

A (tax-free) homeworking allowance (currently £26 per month) is payable in recognition of the costs of homeworking such as heating, lighting, use of internet connection. All computer consumables, stationery, etc. will be paid for by the Council on production of receipts. The Clerk requires the availability of a car (insured for business use) and driving licence; approved travelling costs will be met by the Parish Council at HMRC private car user rates.

Meetings are bi-monthly on the first Wednesday of the month in Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep & Nov. Town Estates Charity meetings typically follow immediately after a Parish Council meeting (approx. a year). Meetings are held in the Misson Parish Hall.
