Misson Parish Council NEBF

North East Bassetlaw Forum (NEBF)

The North East Bassetlaw Forum (NEBF) was established in 2004. Their aim is to support collective working amongst Parish Councils and Community Groups in the area covered by the Parishes of Misterton, West Stockwith, Walkeringham, Beckingham, Gringley-on-the-Hill, Everton, Mattersey, Ranskill and Misson . In particular they seek to:

  • Encourage greater involvement from local communities in issues that affect them
  • Identify specific issues and develop local responses
  • Articulate the needs of the area
  • Provide a forum for service providers to gain closer contact with residents and local organisations

Membership

Membership of the Forum is made up of all Parish Councils in the north eastern area of Bassetlaw, community groups, District and County Councillors for the area. The Forum will consider applications from any group that can demonstrate they are supportive of the Forum objectives and are not restrictive on membership.

Meetings

The Forum meets quarterly at various meeting venues to discuss issues of common interest, particularly where they can facilitate outcomes in a more efficient manner or can influence policies by speaking with a single voice. NEBF are sponsored by Bassetlaw District Council. As well as Parish Councillors from members parishes, other community groups can participate as NEBF members (for example The Misterton Area Partnership). County and District Councillors attend the meetings along with other facilitating organisations, for example Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire (RCAN).

At most meetings an outside speaker is invited to talk about a topic of current interest.

Meetings are open to the public and commence with a question time to allow public to raise issues.

On the NEBF web site you can find details about the Forum, the next meeting and minutes of past meetings, together with details of current projects.  The quarterly meetings are open to the public and time is set aside for the public to raise any issues of interest or concern. Comment and feedback is welcomed. Contact details are on the website which can be accessed via this link:
